Purchasers back themselves to raise profile

Four out of five purchasers believe the profession will have a higher profile in 2005, according to the results of an SM online poll.

Eighty percent of respondents – 91 of the 114 – answered “yes” to the question: “Do you think purchasing will gain influence in your organisation over the coming year?”

Eighteen per cent, or 20 voters, said “no”.

“We welcome the positive attitude,” said Roy Ayliffe, director of professional practice at CIPS.
