Purchasers’ pay triple rate of inflation_2

Purchasers are enjoying pay rises of almost three times the rate of inflation, according to a salary survey by Purcon Consultants.

The survey, based on a poll of 2,000 purchasers, found that average pay rises were 8.4 per cent in the year to March, taking the mean salary for the profession to £33,552.

The increases were not uniform. Purchasing directors’ pay, for example, rose by 13.4 per cent to an average of £81,861, while senior buyers’ salaries rose by only 7.5 per cent to £30,177.
