Lawyers in Scotland expect mergers

More than three quarters of lawyers surveyed in Scotland expect an increase in law firm mergers, which will reduce the number of legal practices in the region.

The survey found that 89 per cent of lawyers in Scottish legal practices expect more law firm mergers in the next few years.

Robert Outram, Editor of CA magazine, which conducted the survey, said: "Scotland’s law firms face a competitive and challenging environment and it seems likely that some names will disappear from the scene over the next few years....
