Higgins targets supplier cuts at university college
28 August 2012
Robin Higgins is looking at supplier rationalisation following his appointment as procurement and contracts officer at Canterbury Christ Church University College.
He takes up the new post within the devolved purchasing function, which influences more than £20 million of non-pay budget a year. He aims to clarify purchasing procedures and increase compliance through training sessions and the appointment of lead purchasers.
“We must make procedures comprehensive but easy to understand,” he said.
Savings totalling “hundreds of thousands of pounds” have been identified, according to Higgins.
