Figures reveal huge rise in identity theft

Identity theft in the UK increased 45 per cent and fraud at cash machines rose 34 per cent last year, according to card fraud figures released by the Association for Payment Clearing Services (APACS).

The total cost of identity theft in the UK last year was £29.7 million last year, while fraud at cash machines amounted to £39 million.
