Only one-third of British businesses are firmly in favour of joining the European single currency, according to an ICM Research survey of over 1,000 chief executives. The remaining two-thirds either ruled out the idea completely or wanted to keep their options open. Most of those polled said Britain was unlikely to join the euro during this parliament.
