Embattled firm makes moves to calm suppliers_2

Huntingdon Life Sciences, the drugs testing company targeted by animal rights activists, is moving to reassure its suppliers that the company will remain solvent, according to purchasing manager Val Owen.

A cash injection last week, reported to be around £20 million from an unnamed US backer, replaced a £22.6 million loan from the Royal Bank of Scotland which it had called in.

Protests outside its Cambridgeshire offices and nervous suppliers have made for trying times, Owen told SM.
