Centralised body to wield fire power

A single body will tomorrow take over high-value purchasing deals on behalf of fire and rescue services in England.

FiReBuy, will manage so-called “mission critical” procurement on behalf of 48 fire and rescue authorities (FRAs).

In addition to contributing to £105 million of efficiency savings expected on the service’s £300 million annual budget by 2008, FiReBuy aims to drive safety through better purchasing.
