CBI concern over minimum wage rise

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has warned about the possible impact on businesses of October’s increase in the UK minimum wage and has vowed to ‘monitor the outcome extremely carefully’.

The government announced in March that the minimum wage for adults will rise 35 pence to £4.85 an hour from 1 October 2004, but the CBI warns that it may do more harm than good.
