Buyers increase IT purchasing role

Purchasing is becoming more involved in IT buying as economic pressures squeeze budgets. But findings from Gartner reveal the profession is still “at the edge” of big IT buying decisions.

UK companies plan to increase their IT budgets by only 3.8 per cent in 2006, compared to 5.8 per cent in 2005, said the report. It polled those responsible for IT budgets at more than 400 European firms of all sizes and in all sectors to discover spending habits.
