BBC starts with travel as part of faster e-orders_2

The BBC has unified its electronic catalogues and has begun e-ordering with 10 preferred suppliers. The move is part of a larger process to speed up its online ordering.

Transport and travel are among the first services to be automated, with staff using a combination of purchasing cards and web-based booking and ordering systems.

As part of the initiative, BBC purchasers have also begun to build, publish, evaluate and award electronic tenders.
