Purchasing professionals have welcomed the appointment of Andrew Pinder as the government’s e-envoy. But concerns about the role of the government’s ambassador responsible for promoting the take-up of electronic commerce within UK industry remain.

Pinder’s knowledge of IT and his customer focus are good news, said David Mannion, principal e-business consultant at ICL e-Business Services and a member of CIPS’s e-commerce group. “It is good to know that someone has finally been appointed and things can move forward.”
