Tax column Proposed changes to tax legislation could undermine UK competitiveness

On 7 April, the largest ever finance bill was published. In previous articles I suggested that a small crane would be necessary to lift it - I underestimated the task. The bill has 558 pages, 152 clauses and 40 schedules. The explanatory notes are nearly two inches thick. This cannot help to make the UK tax system simpler.
