Rapid installation of a new e-procurement system has enabled IT buyers at Southampton City Council to bring nearly all purchasing online ahead of e-government targets.

The council's IT procurement department claims that the Biomni Directa solution has already enabled it to bring “almost 100 per cent” of its everyday purchasing online. The Office of the e-Envoy set a target for all local and central government services to be available online by 2005.
