A rift between Germany and its seven partners for a joint military transport aircraft has caused a delay in signing the final contract. Germany is seeking a 5 per cent cut in its negotiated price for 73 of the 196 planes to be built by Airbus. Germany is set to take the largest number of A400M planes, each costing £50 million.
