Software problem delays arrival of latest Chinook

Problems with the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) procurement of the latest Chinook helicopters will delay their introduction to the UK’s armed forces.

The MoD has taken delivery of three Mark III Chinooks from Boeing but is unhappy with the helicopter’s software. The hiccup, which will require the respecification of some of the software, will put back the aircraft’s operational date from mid 2002 to early 2003.
