Kimberly-Clark moves for closer supplier links

Consumer products manufacturer Kimberly-Clark is anticipating closer co-operation with its European supplier base as it implements a process of standardising direct and indirect purchasing.

“The object is to source from fewer preferred suppliers,” explained Richard Champion, director of European purchasing. Within the past year the company has reduced its suppliers of corrugated paper cases from 11 to two.

“It came about as an increasing awareness that our supplier base is a rich source of creativity,” said Champion.
