Buyers beat average pay rises with 8.6% increase

Purchasers’ salaries are continuing to rise, with assistant buyers averaging a 13.4 per cent increase, according to the latest survey from Purcon.

The average wage for a buyer is now £36,452, and the average percentage rise for all staff was 8.6 per cent in the year to March.

The rise was up slightly on the year-to-year increase of 8.4 per cent in March 2001.

The upward trend appears to be continuing, despite downward pressures on the economy following 11 September.
