‘160,000 jobs to go’




The UK could lose up to 160,000 manufacturing jobs - half of them in engineering - in 2002, according to the Engineering Employers’ Federation (EEF). Investment and employment are being cut more strongly than three months ago. Last year, job losses totalled 120,000. Engineering output could also fall by 2 per cent in 2002 year after last year’s 3.2 per cent drop....
