Engineering and manufacturing recruiter JAM Recruitment has appointed aerospace industry veteran Grahame Nix OBE as group business development director.

He brings over 30 years’ industry experience to JAM, having joined Marshall Aerospace as a graduate trainee in 1980, becoming a board member in 1995 and taking up the role of chief operating officer in 2006 – the same year he oversaw the firm securing a £1.5bn contract with the RAF.

He more recently established aerospace and engineering recruitment business Aeropeople but is no longer involved with the business, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Nix has also been involved with manufacturers’ organisation EEF – which itself is a partner of JAM – and a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, whose current president is also a recruitment industry figure.

Nix comments: “Having experience of the labour market both as a user and supplier I know all too well the challenges faced not only by the aerospace sector but across the UK manufacturing industry, and what a significant barrier to growth these can be.”
