Three-quarters of the UK’s part-time workers feel trapped rather than liberated by their flexible working arrangements, with over a fifth saying they would never expect to be promoted while in a part-time role.
Mon, 8 Jul 2013Three-quarters of the UK’s part-time workers feel trapped rather than liberated by their flexible working arrangements, with over a fifth saying they would never expect to be promoted while in a part-time role.

This is according to a new report, ‘The Flexibility Trap' from the Timewise Foundation, a social business that also operates a part-time recruitment agency and job site under the Timewise brand.

The survey of 1,000 part-timers in a range of roles finds 63% think that promotion would only be possible if they increased their hours, although 36% say they would not be able to increase their working week.

And just over two-fifths say that they have already taken jobs below their skills and salary level in return for flexibility.
