Siemens is well on its way to filling 1,000 new roles at its gas turbine manufacturing facility in Charlotte, North Carolina.
According to a US Siemens spokesperson the global manufacturing firm has already filled 200 posts at the facility and is recruiting machinists, welders, quality inspectors and assemblers for a new factory for the production of more energy-efficient gas turbines.
Earlier this year, Siemens pledged $4.3m (£2.67m) to the engineering college at the University of North Carolina to support the new Energy Production and Infrastructure Centre (EPIC) programme to provide engineering scholarships and advance research capabilities in Smart Grid and precision manufacturing. Graduates from this programme will soon fill many of the open positions at the Charlotte plant, the spokesperson said.
When asked whether Siemens would recruit for the new posts through, agencies, social networking or the company’s website, the spokesperson said “We bet on every horse.”
