Recruiter Hussain on winning team on the BBC’s The Apprentice

The recruitment industry’s representative on the BBC’s popular reality programme The Apprentice finds herself on the winning team on week 2.

Technology recruiter Shazia Hussain (above, far right), who we profile in the upcoming Jan/Feb issue of Recruiter, said her unique selling proposition was “my ADHD [attention deficit hyperactivity disorder], which means I can process information faster than others. This often means that my reaction time is quicker, and I look at things differently”.

This week Lord Sugar, who stumps up £250k investment and the chance to go into a business partnership with him, met the teams at the Shard by London Bridge. He filled them in on the brief of baking and selling bespoke bao buns for two corporate clients, as well as boosting their profits by selling to the general public.

Although Shazia wasn’t team leader this week, neither was she on the sub team, where Prime Minister Rishi Sunak could well have used the car-crash working out of how many ingredients to buy as a prime example why maths is so important – on The Apprentice as well as in life.

As it turned out, the girls made up for their poor maths skills by upselling to the public in London’s Greenwich Market and trumping the boys with a £754.60 profit to £599.35.

Keep going, Shazia – we look forward to seeing you go as far as Ricky Martin, Lee McQueen and Lord Sugar’s right-hand man this series, Tim Campbell MBE!
