Aldi opens new stores and looks to recruit 5,000

The UK’s retail sector is being boosted to the tune of 5,000 new jobs.

The Mirror reports Aldi is to open 130 new stores in the UK over the next two years as the supermarket chain revealed that sales grew 16.4% across the UK and Ireland to a record £10.2bn in 2017.

Full-year operating profit rose 26% to £265.9m.
