Toronto shoplifter lands job after kindly cop buys him suit

A Toronto shoplifter caught stealing a suit for a job interview has landed a new job.

Last week Recruiter reported Walmart staff apprehended an 18-year-old for attempting to steal a dress shirt, tie and socks. On arrival at the scene, constable Niran Jeyanesan found out the offender had been stealing the items for a job interview, and decided to release him and purchase the items on his behalf.

And by way of an update, Jeyanesan told Canadian TV channel CP24 the young jobseeker had emailed him to say he had found a new job. “He told me he actually wore the shirt and the tie – I'm just so happy!”
