Technology tools showcased at event to find the right talent

Using technology to analyse candidates’ facial micro expressions is one of the latest tools available to recruiters seeking the right candidates for their roles, a London audience heard on Wednesday (26 April) at an event hosted by a recruitment process outsourcing firm. DeeDee Doke reports...

In addition to having the “bleeding edge” capability of analysing the candidates’ tiniest facial movements, technology utilised by HireVue can also examine “really immersive stuff” within a digital interview, such as what the candidate is saying and how they say it, non-verbal reasoning and key stroke indices, said Darren Jaffrey, HireVue’s general manager for EMEA & APAC.

HireVue’s blending of interview and assessment offering was highlighted, along with virtual sourcing assistant Arya and the IBM Watson Cognitive Career Coach, at Resource Solutions’ #innovateWithRS technology showcase.

“This is our lifeblood,” said Resource Solutions CEO Oliver Harris in explaining the company’s significant interest in new technology.

The three products were presented as offerings that promise, respectively, to key in on specific traits that will define whether a ‘good fit’ candidate is at hand, reduce recruiters’ time on sourcing candidates and revolutionise internal career mobility.

Representatives of each product had 15 minutes to make their case to the audience of in-house recruitment and search practitioners at the breakfast event.

Madhu Modugu, Arya’s founder and CEO, told Recruiter that the virtual sourcing assistant is used mostly by its current clients to find candidates for “mid-range jobs”. It also is used to identify potential candidates for blue-collar roles such as warehouse positions with social channels such as Facebook and Twitter serving as prime hunting grounds “where we find out a lot about them”, he said.

“My philosophy is, there are no ‘bad candidates’,” Modugu said. “There is just the need to put people in the right jobs.”
