FROM APRIL's RECRUITER MAGAZINE

Alex Straw, Propel Recruitment, offers insight into potential new roles for WWE wrestler Daniel Bryan, who was forced into retirement through injury:

“For a diminutive man competing in wrestling’s heaviest weight division, Daniel Bryan’s biggest challenge (besides fighting against men a foot taller than him) was getting the WWE [wrestling promotion company World Wrestling Entertainment] and spectators around the globe to buy into him as a serious challenger.

“Where Bryan has excelled throughout his career is his ability to market himself and build a social media presence that punches well above its weight, thus making him an ideal fit as a marketing manager.

“Away from social media, Bryan is no stranger to producing engaging content, having published a book in 2015 — Yes! My Improbable Journey To Wrestlemania — and he has a wealth of experience in PR and brand management. Throughout his career he has overseen a number of changes to his own brand, from Bryan Danielson to Daniel Bryan, as well giving himself multiple nicknames such as The American Dragon, The Flying Goat and King of Beards.

“Having successfully launched his own ‘Yes! Movement’, we believe Bryan will fit right in at a small start-up looking to make a name for themselves. Here, his tenacity and doggedness will see him challenge and disrupt some of the bigger players and help the company go from strength to strength.”
