Online job advertisements in Australia increased almost 11% over the last year, according to job board SEEK’s latest data.

A statement from the Australasian website this morning said its latest employment data showed the 2015 financial year closed with a 10.8% year-on-year growth in new job adverts.

The SEEK Employment Index, which measures supply against demand, recorded an 11% rise. This increase means there are fewer applications per job than in the previous year.

Trades & services was the biggest online job advertising industry (up 18%), followed by healthcare & medical (15%) and ICT (13%).

Design & architecture, though, accounted for the biggest job ad growth over the year, up 42%, followed by  farming, animals & conservation (29%), and trades & services (18%).

Of the 29 industries SEEK analysed, the five most in need of labour resources included law, real estate, insurance and superannuation, education, and government and defence.

Western Australia was the only state that did not record job ad growth, with ads 9.3% lower than last year.
