Up to 200 jobs are to be created with the expansion of a meat processing plant in Colac, Australia, according to a joint statement from Australian minister for industry Ian Macfarlane and state of Victoria minister for manufacturing David Hodgett.

The expansion of Australian Lamb (Colac) is also expected to create up to 100 trade jobs during the two-year construction phase and another 100 indirect jobs in the local supply chain, within transport companies, for example.

The Australian and Victorian government’s A$29.5m (£16m) Geelong Region Innovation and Investment Fund (GRIIF) provided a A$3.25m grant to the company.

The total price of the expansion is A$22m.

It is expected 125 new full-time jobs will be created by June 2017, potentially increasing to 200 by October 2017.
