Storm grant creates 420 temporary jobs in the US

The US Department of Labor has made available a $5.6m (£3.3m) National Emergency Grant to assist with the clean-up and recovery efforts from severe storms, tornadoes and flooding in Mississippi at the end of April.

The US Department of Labor has made available a $5.6m (£3.3m) National Emergency Grant to assist with the clean-up and recovery efforts from severe storms, tornadoes and flooding in Mississippi at the end of April.

These funds are being awarded to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security and will be used to create around 420 temporary jobs to assist with the recovery efforts.

Workers dislocated as a result of the weather, as well as the long-term unemployed and other eligible dislocated workers, are eligible to be placed in these temporary clean-up and recovery jobs.
