The French President François Hollande promised a €30bn (£24.95bn) payroll tax cut yesterday, aimed at encouraging French employers to hire more staff.

The cut will come in exchange for employers agreeing to boost employment levels as the president looks to reduce France’s 11% unemployment rate.
