Turnover at its holding firm Swift Technical Group Holdings rose by just under 6% to £356.8m in the year 2012 compared with 2011, with operating profit from continuing operations rising by 1.5% to £13.6m.

The year also saw the disposal of some operations of the business, which had made an operating loss of £1.2m.

Total profit of £1.9m compared with a loss of £32k in 2011.

The firm’s Asian operations, which represents over a quarter of the group, saw turnover grow by 11%, while it shrunk slightly in North America, with Asia overtaking it as the largest group operation.

Turnover also declined in the third-biggest division, Africa, by, 9%, and grew by over 40% in Australasia.

The firm’s average number of employees during the year was 357, up 16% on the 307 figure for 2011.

The company featured in both the 2012 editions of our FAST 50 league table of the fastest-growing UK recruitment firms, and the HOT 100 list of the recruiters with greatest gross profit per employee, sponsored by Microdec. It was also top of a separate league table looking at the select group of firms making it onto both.
