Payment solutions and umbrella company Zeva has launched an appeal against the threatened revocation of its licence by the Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA).

Zeva had previously said it had been given a “notice of revocation without immediate effect”, and that it intended “to vigorously defend this revocation”.

The GLA previously told recruiter.co.uk that Zeva had been notified of this on 8 August, and that it was “not our policy to give reasons” for the removal of the licence. Zeva had 20 working days from that date to register an appeal.

In the meantime, Zeva remained licensed to trade within the horticulture, food processing and packaging, forestry and shellfish gathering industries that the GLA regulates.

And Zeva’s managing director Matt Partridge told recruiter.co.uk that the company had “lost none of our clients” as a result of the revocation.

The GLA tells recruiter.co.uk that it has been informed that Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) has received appeals from Apus Contracting and Vela Contracting, the two firms which trade as Zeva.

However, the GLA is yet to be served with these. On receipt of the documents, it will have 20 working days to respond, and the organisation says it is "then up to HMCTS to work out a schedule for any future proceedings including setting a date for the hearing".

Helping employees overcome imposter syndrome

A new role can trigger ‘imposter syndrome’, the feeling of self-doubt experienced by over 60% of UK workers about their work accomplishments. They believe they don’t deserve their jobs or success or that they can never meet others’ expectations. As a result, they feel like imposters or frauds at the workplace – and it doesn’t matter how high you’ve risen in the organisation or if your achievements are staggering. In fact, it’s experienced commonly as we take on more responsibility.
