Mon, 30 Sep 2013Both Scotland-based construction recruiter Contract Scotland and Portsmouth-based recruitment group STR saw their businesses grow in 2012, according to results filed at Companies House.

Contract Scotland
The firm made a profit of £633k after tax on turnover of £13.2m in 2012.

This compares favourably with £761k profit after tax made in the previous accounting period, the 18 months from 1 July 2010 to 31 December 2011, when turnover was £15.1m.

The directors say they are “pleased with the results, taking into effect the significant downturn in both the construction and recruitment sectors”.

STR
The recruitment group saw substantial increases in turnover and gross profit in 2012, although this appears larger still, with the company also having changed its accounting period.

In the 14 months to 31 December 2012, the company’s turnover of £17.3m is nearly double that of the previous financial period, the 12 months to the end of October 2011.

Gross profit rose from just under £4m to £5.1m. However, increased administrative expenses meant bottom line profit dropped from £321k to £203k.

The technical specialist launched niche offerings for biotech recruitment and pharmaceutical recruitment late in 2012, as well as an aviation staffing arm in July.
