Recruitment is all about helping people move up in the world of work, but simply moving up between floors of a workplace can be enough of a frustrating experience, as a new survey from job site CareerBuilder shows.

A poll of 400 UK residents finds a number of annoying lift habits that get on our nerves in the list. See the full list below the advertisement:

  1. Someone standing too close to you when there is plenty of room in the lift (36%).
  2. Someone squeezing into an already crowded lift (36%).
  3. Someone not holding the door open when you’re running to get in the lift (30%).
  4. Someone taking the lift to go up one or two floors instead of taking the stairs (29%).
  5. Someone who won’t move out of the lift to let other people off (28%).
  6. Someone talking on their mobile (23%).
  7. Someone jumping the queue to get in the lift when other people have been waiting longer (23%).
  8. Someone holding the lift door open for an extended period of time because they’re waiting for someone (20%).
