Nearly 60 recruitment enterprises have been shortlisted across 23 categories in Recruiter's Awards for Excellence 2008, supported by Thomas International.

"This has been a particularly exciting year for the Awards so far," said DeeDee Doke, Recruiter editor. "The response to our new categories has been phenomenal. We're so pleased to have Dara O'Briain on board as our host, and we have a few other surprises waiting in the wings for the night itself. The 2008 Awards will truly be an occasion to remember."

Among the new awards this year are Best Recruitment Firm to Work For, Best Candidate Care, Best Client Care and Best Marketing Recruitment Firm.

The panel of 21 judges was enthusiastic about the quality of the hundreds of 2008 entries overall. Martin Holden, a partner with accountancy firm Saffery Champness, said: "There were some very strong entries, and there were some with real depth."

No shortlist is set for the remaining two categories, the Gary Clark Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Recruitment Industry or the Grand Prix Gold Award. The former is awarded to an individual within the industry. The Grand Prix Gold honour is awarded to the overall winner. The Awards will be presented on 28 April in London.
