Recruiters can play a part in attracting women into the construction industry to meet the demands of the 2012 Olympics, as highlighted by education secretary Alan Johnson.

Trevor Rees of Malla Recruitment and chair of the REC’s specialist technical, engineering and construction group, told Recruiter: “By remaining focused on diversity recruiters can bring women into the industry. As REC members we have signed up to the diversity pledge, which makes us constantly think of introducing diversity into business.

“We are also working to achieve diversity in the industry through a Sustainable Employment Legacy Forum (SELF), in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, the London Development Agency and Women in Construction.”
