Scottish employment recovers from May lull

Scottish private sector employment increased in June for the seventh time in the past eight months, following a lull in job creation in May.

Scottish private sector employment increased in June for the seventh time in the past eight months, following a lull in job creation in May.

This is according to the Bank of Scotland’s Purchasing Managers’ Index survey of around 600 Scottish firms.In May, services firms had lost jobs overall, while manufacturing companies created employment. In April the opposite situation had occurred, and with both sectors in job-adding mode, the composite employment index rose from 50, indicating no growth, to 51.4.
