INTERNATIONAL US: Auto dealer jobs up 5%

The number of people employed at US new car or truck dealerships in 2011 was 933,350, a rise of 4.6% on the 2010 figure, reveals data from the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA).

The average dealership employed 53 workers in 2011 – equating to a total of 17,600 dealerships.
Dealerships’ mean annual payroll was $2.6m (£1.7m), meaning an average salary of $49k (£31.5k).

NADA also notes that on average, dealerships made up 14.5% of the total retail payroll in their respective state.
