The Money Shop takes pawnbroking job creation to 880

H&T Pawnbrokers is due to create 250 jobs at 30 new stores, while Albemarle & Bond Holdings brings 300 jobs in 25 new store openings, as reported by recruiter.co.uk.

Following up from a story on recruiter.co.uk about the challenges these pawnbrokers face in attracting talent, Neil Surgenor, head of pawnbroking at The Money Shop, tells Recruiter: “The right people are out there though and we’ve experienced a growing number of applicants, which is encouraging.”Surgenor adds: “Most candidates are those with experience in the jewellery trade, which presents plenty of opportunity as they boast many transferrable skills.”

The Money Shop also opened 11 new ‘Money Shop’ stores, which offer a range of financial services, but are distinct from their Money Shop Pawnbroker stores, in November and December 2011.

The Money Shop’s parent company, Dollar Financial UK, employs a total of 2,100 staff across a number of operations, including the PaydayUK loans service.
