HR departments should priortise nurturing talent, according to HR recruiters.

Caroline Foote, managing director at HR moves, told Recruiter: “We have noticed the increase in organisations recruiting senior talent people of heads of talent or development of talent.

“Now more than ever, people want to attract and retain top talent through working with employee engagement.”

Mitch Sonariwo, director at Chamberlin HR, adds: “While lots of organisations are looking at trimming the workforce, the value HR can add is motivating and managing talent within organisations. That is the biggest challenge.

“HR should be identifying new talent. When organisations stop recruiting, there can be a lack of internal opportunities for individuals and that can become a reason to leave.”
