Byles appointed head of FAS Consultants retained search

Birmingham-based Fresh Approach Solutions (FAS) has appointed Daniel Byles as head of FAS Consultants (FASC), the recruitment specialist’s retained search division.

Byles joins FAS at a key point in the consultancy’s growth, with recordprofits reported and staff placed with clients on all continents with the exception of Antarctica. FAS provides skilled candidates for clients within the sectors of defence, space and satellite communications, rail, civil engineering and international project support.

FASC works within the government, defence and security sectors,providing clients with recruitment services to fill key gaps in their senior management team or main board on either a permanent or interim basis. The team also works on a one-to-one basis with a number of senior armed forces and police service candidates to help these highly experienced senior candidates manage their move to the civilian world. As head of the division, Byles will provide clients with strategic recruitment and commercial consultancy, as well as managing FASC’s teams in London and Birmingham.

Anne Murphy has been appointed as practice head for the retail and commercial financial services practice within Odgers Select, the middle to senior management specialist arm of executive search firm, Odgers Ray & Berndtson. Murphy’s remit at Odgers Select extends to retail banking and consumer finance, insurance, wealth and asset management, and wholesale and transaction banking.

Engineering specialist NES has appointed Shaun Donnelly as consultant in its Manchester office.

Raymond Pennie has left IT & telecoms recruitment specialist Elan IT, a Manpower Professional company, where he was programme director. He joins the board of Kamanchi, a system specialist provider to the recruitment industry, as commercial director.

North-West recruitment specialist Scantec Personnel has appointed a new business development manager, Steve Musa.

Michael Singleton has been appointed as manager of healthcare specialist recruiter Castlerock Care Services’ new Barking branch in Essex. Singleton has nine years’ healthcare recruitment experience and was director of AM Locums, until its acquisition by Castlerock in 2008.

Professional contractor payment solutions company, Crystal Umbrella, has announced the appointment of Sir Nick Montagu, former chairman of the Inland Revenue, as an adviser. Having had a distinguished Civil Service career for 30 years, Sir Nick will be working with Crystal Umbrella directors to help steer the strategic direction of the company as it builds on its strong growth.

Enterprise resource planning recruiter Maximus IT is continuing to build its team of specialist consultants with the arrival of two new members of staff. Richard Twumasi (left) joins as an Oracle consultant with two years’ recruitment experience. Dan Benham (below left) brings 10 years of recruitment experience to Maximus and returns to the team, having already worked for Maximus IT between 2002 and 2004. He will be eading and developing the new digital security and legal IT divisions for the company, working with companies both in the UK and overseas.

North-East based recruitment and training specialist Premium People Group has appointed Andrew Bickerdike as senior consultant, sales and marketing and Lesley Simpson as business manager, human resources solutions.

International recruitment consultancy Nigel Wright Recruitment continues to add new consultants across its UK and international divisions. Fabio Moroni (left) joins the company’s French team as a consultant. He was previously a senior consultant with Michael Page International, recruiting within luxury goods at executive level. Jenna Burton (below left) joins the North-East interim finance division as a consultant.

Maddisson Farrell has appointed Andrew Gibson as commercial director of the company’s RPO division.

Multi-sector recruiter Fresh Talent Management has strengthened its Midlands region team with the appointment of Debbie Harris as branch manager for its Birmingham office and Andy Guest as branch manager for its newly opened Lichfield office.

EDC Services has appointed Wayne Morgan to look after health and safety/training for the company’s construction and engineering workers. Morgan has come from Tyco F&IS, with an extensive background in fire protection and construction, design and management (CDM) training. Jason Gardener has also been appointed as project manager to look after the subcontract side of the business.

Manchester-based IT rec-to-rec firm Clarity Group has hired Samantha Chilcot as consultant, who joins from Huxley Associates, part of the SThree Group. David Wycherley also joins as consultant from Salisi Human Capital.
