Albany announces restructuring
Following the suspension of its bank funding (see Recruiter.co.uk, 20 January), Albany is going through a restructuring and refinancing process, according to the company.
In a statement sent to Recruiter, the neutral vendor and workforce management company says this is “part of a detailed and complex business plan; compiled in order that Albany may satisfy its creditors, continue to service debts and provide longevity”.
The company says it has now made arrangements for contractors to submit timesheets to another company.
“As part of this process, Albany is working with Von Essen Consulting to transition contractors currently operating through Albany EMEA, Albany Tecserv and Albany Management UK. Albany can confirm that no other companies within the group are impacted by this arrangement.”
An email sent to a contractor by Albany confirms this arrangement: “As part of this process, Albany has agreed to novate your existing contract to Von Essen Consulting, with effect from today’s date (13 January).
“Please find details below pertinent to the changes in your timesheet/payment process necessary to ensure payments are processed without any undue interruption or inconvenience to you.
“Invoice and Payment Process
When you complete your next timesheet:
Send it via email to timesheets@vonessengroup.com and, if required, your agency on or before the 7th of the month.”
Recruiter has received comments from a number of contractors expressing concerns about getting paid.

I am a contractor using Albany and to date they owe me 11 days pay. I have been told today that there is no forecast on when i will receive my money or even if I ever will. This has left me in financial difficulty. I never received any warning about payment difficulties and was even allowed to carry on submitting timesheets when they knew full well I would not get paid.

I have been 'employed' by Albany since September 2009 along with five other contractors on a major project in Sweden and have had nothing but late payments and poor quality of service throughout. We were allowed to carry on working, with Albany keeping silent about the fact that there was a serious risk that we were probably never going to be paid.

I have the misfortune of losing my first payment from them. It looks like most of the staff have left, as all of the phones are forwarded to 1 person. Let's hope they sort something out.

I think Albany are missing the point here..........we are only concerned about missing December pay, not what is going to happen with January pay. Is anyone else going to bother using this Von Essen company so we can risk more money falling in to a black hole. I will be damned if I do. I think the way forward is to find another completely separate process, ie use another umbrella company or set up on your own moving forward.

I´ve been with Albany for years and have had a good experience. Up till now, that is of course.
I have two invoices hanging out there, no idea whether I´ll ever get them paid out.
What ticks me off is that nobody bothered to inform me, that does not seem good business.

How about 2 months pay just paid into their account last week...enjoy it RBS...after scr*wing me indirectly via government bailouts might as well go direct and take my money at source!

I only had bad service from them all the time. The only time the service improved significantly is when their South African operation handled my project. On every other occassion they delayed and messed up everything and made excuses all the time. Pay us our money Albany

Does anyone know what is happening with Mirasol?
I know a number of Albany contractors that have large sums of money tied up in Mirasol and all are unable to get at it.
