Payroll Giving is a simple, tax-efficient way for employees to give to charity, but it is something that very few companies in the UK have taken up.
In 2002, £86 million was raised for UK charities by Payroll Giving. This is a lot of money, but it’s nothing compared to what could be collected. At present, only one per cent of companies (about two per cent of employees) in the UK are involved with Payroll Giving – its potential is enormous.
