Ericsson and SAP give jobs boost for Ireland’s IT sector

Over 180 highly-skilled jobs are being created in Ireland’s software sector.
Tue, 27 May 2014Over 180 highly-skilled jobs are being created in Ireland’s software sector.

More than 120 jobs are being created by international software company Ericsson at sites in Dublin and Athlone, while global ICT firm SAP is to create 60 roles in Dublin.

Recruitment for the 120 new positions at Ericsson, to complement the existing workforce of more than 1,400, will start straight away.

The roles range from software developers to programme managers and consultants. A number of roles will be offered to graduates from Ericsson-sponsored MSc programmes, according to a company press release.

SAP’s 60 roles are due to increased investment in the Business Objects Software’s Development Centre in Dublin. The new jobs in predictive analytics supplement the more than 200 jobs in SAP’s business suite and support organisations the company is recruiting for in Ireland this year.

Elsewhere, INDOS Financial (INDOS), an independent business that provides depositary services under the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), plans to expand its Irish office, based in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, with the creation of up to 10 jobs.

All investments are supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland, the country’s inward investment promotion agency.
