Wed, 9 Oct 2013News agency Reuters reports that online retailer Amazon will create 6,000 jobs in two new logistics centres in Poland, and a further 1,000 in a new site outside Berlin.
There were concerns in Germany that the new Polish sites in Poznan and Wroclaw would result in closures in its German operation, but an Amazon spokesman says no closures are planned in Europe, according to Reuters.
“Amazon is always looking at options to expand capacity,” the spokesperson says.
Recent weeks have also seen Amazon announce Christmas recruitment plans in the UK – where 15,000 seasonal hires are planned – and across the Atlantic, where the firm’s US operation is planning on taking on 70,000 staff, 40% more than last year.
