The National Farmers Union (NFU) is using SMS technology for its recruitment.

Users of the NFU Online careers page can fill in a registration form providing personal information, including job area of interest and a mobile phone number. The details are retained on a database and text messages are then sent to alert potential candidates when the latest vacancies become available.

Jenny Powell HR officer at the NFU, said: “Text messages are proving increasingly popular and we hope this will give us a competitive advantage when it comes to recruitment activity. It brings recruitment registration and information right up to date.”
