The potential of the Mexican market and the difficulties of recruiting in Japan are key findings of a new report by digital recruitment group Evenbase into the Top 10 digital recruitment ‘market to watch’, the company’s chief executive officer Keith Potts tells Recruiter.

Asked by Recruiter what most struck him from the report ‘Digital Recruitment: The Hottest Markets in 2020’, Potts says the number one aspect was China not being the top market. “It’s not just GDP that we’re looking at, there’s other aspects that affect our market, so China doesn’t automatically get its position at the top,” he says, adding that the opportunities in the country are massive.

He also says that he was surprised to see “Mexico being as high potential as the UK”, and highlighted the situation in Japan. “One of the things I’ve learnt from this report is the difficulty they have in recruiting there [in Japan], although it’s a very mature market. We have a brand that has a presence there and not surprisingly it’s got a very high yield, which shows that people are finding it difficult to actually recruit there.”

The top 10 hottest digital recruitment markets for 2020 ranked by Evenbase, which Potts says is “not a predictive or definitive one”, are:
  1. Brazil
  2. India (For more see Recruiter Global Spotlight, January 2013)
  3. China
  4. US
  5. Australia (For more see Recruiter Global Spotlight, March 2013)
  6. Japan (For more see Recruiter Global Spotlight, August 2013)
  7. Canada (For more see Recruiter Global Spotlight, December 2012)
  8. Germany (For more see Recruiter Global Spotlight, July 2012)
  9. Russia
  10. Mexico and the UK, tied

Looking at the map of the 11 markets (left/right pic to be in server), there is a notable ‘hole’ in the middle, with no African or Middle Eastern markets making the list.

“If you look at GDP growth there, almost every single country there is top of the GDP growth lists, so possibly one for the future, and as they evolve as expected maybe they’ll get themselves onto this list… it’s a watching brief,” Potts tells Recruiter.
