The 2000 Charities SORP has given charity reporting a more commercial edge, but its usefulness will depend on individual organisations
The government-regulated regime of public accountability is driven by the need to maintain public confidence at the top end (financially speaking) of the charity sector. This in turn depends on the availability of credible and transparent annual financial reports, in an easily recognisable format, to facilitate comparability.
