With regard to the article ‘One in five recruiters to go out of business, predicts Hays’ Venables’ (9 April), how odd! Paul Venables can see two years into the future to predict that “All the big players will do well” but only a week when it comes to staff numbers.

Group staff numbers fall by 27%, and so does net fee income and 43% on perms — oops! I think his ex-staff will set up on their own and prove him wrong.

Are all accountants this arrogant? I suppose he could have kept his staff if his colleagues in the City had been doing their jobs properly.
